Down Economy Hits Missouri Town Hard

Carmen Wilkerson ran for mayor of St. George with one clear goal in mind for the tiny Missouri town: Get rid of it.

The small Missouri town faces budget deficits as towns throughout America are aiming at dissolution to solve their economic woes. As local costs increase and taxation seemingly the only solution, more-and-more small towns like St. George are turning to disincoporation to rid themselves of the deficit burden.
