U.S. Antitrust Official Quits, Fought Mergers, KC Companies

Joseph Wayland, the man who led several successful antitrust challenges against mergers that would affect Kansas City-area companies, is stepping down.

Wayland was acting assistant attorney general for civil enforcement at the U.S. Justice Department’s Antitrust Division. He announced that he will leave the post on Nov. 16.
