Two Missouri Companies Work With Novinda To Sell Emissions Controls

ST. LOUIS — Novinda Corporation, a Denver-based provider of mercury emission control solutions, announced today it has finalized agreements with eight manufacturers’ representative companies to increase market coverage and support of flagship product Amended Silicates.

Among the recently added providers are Allied Bulk, LLC and Energy Products and Solutions, Inc., both of St. Louis. These companies will focus their marketing efforts for Novinda on power utilities in the region.

“We are very pleased to be working with these professional firms,” said Jay Crilley, vice president of sales at Novinda. “This is a critical time for coal-fired power utilities that are under pressure to find more effective and economical methods of meeting increasingly stringent mercury removal rates. Awareness of the performance and economic advantages of Novinda’s products is essential to support utilities’ emission control strategies.”

Novinda pioneered the concept of an added chemical compound for removing mercury with chemical reactions—rather than through absorption technologies—enabling more economical, consistent and robust performance across a variety of power plant configurations and operating conditions. In sustained, full-scale power plant testing, Novinda’s Amended Silicates exceeded the mercury removal rates required by the Environmental Protection Agency. In addition, Amended Silicates is the first commercially available, non-carbon mercury control product that is 100 percent compatible with fly ash, used as a mineral filler in concrete products.

Amended Silicates uses a natural mineral compound as its base component, reducing emissions and energy consumption during the manufacture process. This unique chemical makeup not only enables the product to successfully remove mercury from coal-fired power plant emissions, but also affords the benefits of being non-flammable and non-abrasive – properties that protect the physical plant investments.

Amended Silicates contains no carbon compounds, preserving the beneficial use of fly ash in concrete products and minimizing landfill disposal. Amended Silicates is fully compatible with most sorbent injection systems and is available in commercial quantities for plant trials and long-term contract purchases.
