Secretary announces job cuts at Scott Air Force Base

The U.S. Air Force plans to cut 292 jobs at Scott Air Force Base as part of a realignment that will eliminate 3,459 jobs nationwide and overseas in an effort to save $1.6 billion over the next five years. The base is located on the eastern edge of the St. Louis metropolitan area.

The changes at Air Force headquarters, major commands and field operating agencies stem from an effort to operate at the lowest cost to the taxpayer, Secretary of the Air Force Deborah Lee James said.
