House budget chairman identifies veto override targets

The Missouri General Assembly convenes today to consider Gov. Jay Nixon’s vetoes of legislation passed earlier this year. The legislature’s budget leaders say they have identified about 50 items that Nixon cut from the state’s current operating budget that they will recommend for veto override attempts. Those lines total about $40 million. Nixon has said the state doesn’t have money for the programs he vetoed.
