Democrats, labor leaders rally around Koster amid allegations

Missouri Democrats and labor leaders have come to the defense of Attorney General Chris Koster in the aftermath of a report last week that Koster ended an investigation into an energy drink after receiving political contributions from a lobbyist with ties to the company.

Koster immediately claimed the reports, published in The New York Times, were without merit, and his chief of staff released a six-page memo regarding the handling of Koster’s investigation of the energy drink maker, 5-Hour Energy.

While House Speaker Tim Jones, a Republican, announced his desire to form a legislative committee to investigate the allegations, Democrats began to rally around Koster, the front-runner for the party’s 2016 gubernatorial bid.
