Senator calls for comprehensive study of state tax code

Sen. Bob Dixon, R-Springfield, is introducing a bill calling for Missouri’s first state tax study commission since 1968.

Dixon said he envisions the study taking “two or three years” and involving “CPAs, business people” and a variety of city, county and state-level officials.

The senator authored a tax-break bill during this year’s legislative session that was vetoed by Gov. Jay Nixon. Dixon did not try for an override of the governor’s veto.
