Incoming House Speaker Diehl backs bill requiring disclosure of political funds

Incoming Missouri House Speaker John Diehl, R-Town and Country, says a bill that would require disclosure of donations by political not-for-profits is a priority among several bills proposed to change state ethics laws.

The bill, introduced by representative Caleb Rowden, R-Columbia, would force corporations and other institutions to disclose the sources of their funds when political contributions exceed 25 percent of their annual budget.

Diehl, who this week begins his fourth and final term in the House, stressed the importance of transparency and said big donors should disclose their political spending.
