KC, St. Louis join network to boost global trade

Kansas City and St. Louis have been chosen to join the Global Cities Initiative’s Exchange, an economic development network of 28 cities designed to help municipalities develop foreign trade relationships.

The Exchange, started by the Brookings Institution and JPMorgan Chase to help U.S. businesses explore opportunities abroad, allows Kansas City companies access to Brookings data and information about international markets.

In November, Kansas City identified the need to build the export market as a long-term economic goal for the area.

In Kansas City, economic development leaders and Mayor Sly James are scheduled to formally announce the new arrangement this morning at Union Station.
