Uber, Lyft enlist local lobbyists for regulatory fight

As Uber and Lyft prepare for a fight in Jefferson City over ride-sharing services, the San Francisco companies have enlisted well-known local lobbyists to promote their cause.

Uber has hired a team of lobbyists from Kansas City law firm Husch Blackwell LLP and Kansas City-based Catalyst Group Consulting, according to documents filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission. Lyft has hired a team from Dentons US LLP and Jefferson City-based Patek & Associates.

Both companies could be affected by legislation that would enact statewide regulations — and ban local laws — on ride-sharing services, or force both companies to spend more money on commercial insurance.
