Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster has the largest stockpile of funds in the race for Missouri governor in 2016, with more than $3.2 million in the bank, according to campaign filings that were due Wednesday.

Koster, a Democrat, has more than the combined reported totals of all the announced or “exploring’’ Republican gubernatorial candidates. Catherine Hanaway, the former Missouri House Speaker and best-known Republican candidate, reported $1.2 million in the bank.

In fact, Koster has more than the state’s leading candidates for U.S. Senate.

U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., has more than $3 million in the bank for his 2016 re-election bid. Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander, a hopeful for the Democratic nomination for Blunt’s seat, has raised more than $783,459 since announcing his candidacy in February.
