Schweich campaign returns nearly $480,000 to donors

Tom Schweich’s campaign committee has dispersed $479,752.01 back to donors who supported the late Missouri auditor’s 2016 gubernatorial run.

It shows in Schweich’s quarterly report filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission that disbursements began in late March. That’s about one month after Schweich, the second-term state auditor and a frontrunner for the Republican nomination for governor in 2016, took his own life in his Clayton home.

Donations ranging from $2,000 to $37,000 were returned. The total refunds so far exceed Scheweich’s fundraising totals for the first quarter.

U.S. Senator Jack Danforth and prominent political donor Sam Fox were among the recipients of largest refunds.
