Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster continues to hold a huge financial edge over all of his Republican rivals for governor next year.

Koster, a Democrat with no major opposition from his own party, has banked more than $5 million, according to his latest campaign-finance report filed today. His bank account is twice as fat as that of the top-raising Republican seeking the job, former Navy Seal Eric Greitens., who reported $2.3 million.

In fact, Koster has raised more money than all of the GOP contenders, combined.

Other gubernatorial candidates’ contribution totals:

  • Former House Speaker Catherine Hanaway: $1,549,939.65
  • Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder: $275,973.15
  • John Brunner: $256,562.86
  • Sen. Bob Dixon: $82,548.07

The latest campaign reports only cover the period through September 30. For Koster, this means that his report doesn’t include the $300,000 he received earlier this month from the political action committee of the Eastern Missouri Laborers’ union.
