Missourians give more than $2 million to presidential campaigns

press campaign totals

Missourians have donated almost $2.2 million to presidential candidates, with Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton raking in almost half of it.

Through September, Federal Election Commission records show that Clinton received $973,413 from Missourians, including maximum-allowed donations from some top politicians and business leaders in the St. Louis region. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush led among Republicans, with just over $268,000 in donations from Missouri residents, followed by Texas Sen. Ted Cruz at roughly $237,000 and Dr. Ben Carson at $212,000. Sen. Bernie Sanders has a relatively small fundraising imprint in Missouri. Through September, he had received just over $66,000 from Missourians.

The amounts do not cover SuperPacs aligned with candidates and financed by wealthy donors. A fuller picture of their fundraising won’t be available until January.
