UM System hires government relations director, lobbying firm
The University of Missouri System has hired Dave Smith as its new executive director of state governmental relations and signed a contract with the firm of Schreimann, Rackers, Francka & Blunt, LLC to lobby the Missouri Legislature on behalf of the UM System.
The lobbying firm’s other clients include Ameren Missouri, Burlington Northern Railroad, General Motors and the Missouri Hospital Association.
The UM System’s moves come after a series of leadership changes within the system. Tim Wolfe, the system’s president, resigned on Monday amid protests by student activists and their supporters over Wolfe’s handling of incidents of racism. On the same day, R. Bowen Loftin announced he would step down as chancellor of the system’s Columbia campus at the end of the calendar year.
