Missouri Mass Layoffs Decline

Missouri mass layoff actions dropped by a quarter in July, with 27 such events compared with 36 a year earlier, the U.S. Department of Labor reported Thursday. But Kansas had no such luck.

Mass layoff events are characterized as involving at least 50 workers from a single employer.

The number of Missourians affected dropped by more than 1,500. In July, 2,433 Missourians made initial claims for unemployment insurance, down from 4,068 a year prior, the report said. Read more on Kansas City Business Journal.
