Missouri sees population growth but lags boom states

Missouri’s population continues to grow, but at a much slower rate than states in the northwest part of the U.S., according to information released Wednesday by the U.S. Census Bureau.

The U.S. population grew by 2.3 million between July 1, 2016 and July 1 of this year, to 325.7 million people. That represents growth of 0.72 percent nationwide. By comparison, Missouri’s population grew by 0.4 percent.

Missouri’s population stands at 6.1 million, an increase of 124,607 people since 2010.
